Curious George - Rocket Ride & other adventures!

The recent big screen Curious George film did not become the hit that was hoped, with the animators very unhappy with the cut issued.  However, Universal is continuing their association with Scholastic.  Curious George – Rocket Ride and other adventures! is sure to fill the gap.  Unlike some titles which have shorts going back to 1958, this eight-show set is composed of all recent productions.

 

The additional shorts include Curious George & The Damn Builder, Curious George Flies A Kite, Curious George Finds His Way, Curious George, Station Manager, Curious George Goes Up The River, Curious George In The Dark and Roller Monkey.  I liked the older short a bit more, but these are very good, nicely produced and child safe at a time when that is increasingly rare.

 

The 1.33 X 1 image looks good, even on the older George short, but that one has older monophonic sound.  Otherwise, the Dolby Digital 2.0 is Stereo throughout.  The extras are few, but include closed captions available for a dual use as a “read along” function, DVD-ROM printable coloring book and a few games.
