A long
while ago, we covered the DVD of Marc Forster’s Monster’s Ball (2001) and here is that coverage:

My
feelings about the film remain, it holds up very well after Halle Berry’s many
commercial excursions remaining Oscar-caliber, Billy Bob Thornton’s career path
and has a new sadness in the performance of Heath Ledger, who showed he could
act as early as this film.  Now on
Blu-ray, this is the best version to date.

However,
the Super 35mm filmed 2.35 X 1 image is still a little soft in this 1080p
digital High Definition transfer and could look a little better, while the DTS
HD Master Audio (MA) lossless track shows limits in the sound mix, but this is
a low budget film and is only going to be so dynamic.  At least I got my wish for DTS and it is much
better than the Dolby on the DVD, which is absent here.  Extras are the same as the DVD.
