Babel: 2-Disc Collector’s Edition (DVD-Video)

After
releasing Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu’s Babel
in basic edition in all three existing formats (DVD-Video, HD-DVD and
Blu-ray), Paramount is discontinuing the Blu-ray edition (along with their
entire catalog of such releases) you can read our review on the film and all
three versions at this link:

Now with
the Blu-ray likely on its way to becoming a collector’s item, here is a low-def
DVD set calling itself a “collector’s edition” and it is of a single bonus DVD
with the feature length documentary Common
Ground – Under Construction Notes.
Running 86 minutes, the letterboxed 1.78 X 1 videotaped is decent,
co-directed by Carlos Armella and Pedro Gonzales-Rubio.  It is worth seeing, but only after you have
seen the film, or you might think the director is being grandiose about the
film he made.  This will hopefully give a
decent film a new shot in the arm.
