Nobody 2 4K (2025/Universal 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray w/Blu-ray)

4K Ultra HD Picture: B+ Picture: B- Sound: B+ Extras: C Film: C

The 2021 film, Nobody was a moderate surprise hit with Bob Odenkirk as a man with a dark past that comes back to haunt him, leading to a decent action film that had its moments. When a sequel was discussed, I figured they could expand on what worked in the first film and it would be a great surprise. Timo Tjahjanto's Nobody 2 (2025) continues his story, but goes for too much comedy, a narrative that is too restrictive, a new villain in Sharon Stone who get very underused and the result is a disappointment all around.

This time, he is with his family and goes for a trip with them, but new trouble follows and it is too formulaic and confined to work. Even though some of the team from the first film also returned, it does not help when the screenplay is this limited and plays like something that would be going straight to video, streaming and/or cable TV when it could and should have been so much more. One of the big missed opportunities of the year, Christopher Lloyd, the RZA and Colin Hanks also show up, but to no avail. Unless they intended to go big here, this should have never been greenlit.

As for playback performance, the 2160p HEVC/H.265, 2.35 X 1, Dolby Vision/HDR (10; Ultra HD Premium)-enhanced Ultra High Definition image looks good in many shots, trying to match the look of the first film, so you also get more dark shots. The first film looked a little better to me, if marginally. The 1080p 2.35 X 1 version is softer, weaker and not as pleasant to watch, but is passable at best. The lossless Dolby Atmos (Dolby TrueHD 7.1 mixdown for older systems) mix on both discs can be dialogue-based but also have its moments of action and sound that is professionally done and fine, but not as consistent as the last film.

Extras include Digital Code, while the discs add DELETED SCENES:
