October 8 (2024/Briarcliff Blu-ray)

Picture: B Sound: B Extras: D Documentary: B

News and journalism has become as odd as the times we live in, where we are getting the news, but not in complete ways we could or should be and so, it is even more bizarre to see protesters who are so sure of their position and then they talk and shockingly stupid, highly inaccurate and worse things come out of their mouth. After a long while of this, one of the most horrific massacres happened in Israel on October 7, 2023. The terrorist group Hamas and some satellite participants did some of the most unthinkable things to others you could imagine.

Torture, beheadings, child molestation, rape, murder and much, much more happened and you would think it would resonate like any other such attack. The same protesters were still yelling about protecting Palestine after this happened and no one, and I mean no one could seem to sort out what was going on, the protesters now supporting Hamas by default and more than a few on purpose. Wendy Sachs' October 8 (2024) obviously also finds this horrific and records what happened after the attacks, starting with that day after. The anti-Semitism is at its highest in eons, that those only unhappy with Israel and not World Jewry cannot seem to make enough of a distinction and that too many have become beyond tone deaf in the matter.

This documentary film offers priceless interviews, goes after the dividers and agitators in this situation and has become a landmark work in ways most still do not realize as we post and the U.S. has bombed Iran, with Iran retaliating on some U.S. bases. Iran is easily one of the largest agitators, staring in 1979 with the establishment of a brutal theocracy whose crimes against humanity needs a separate essay/documentary, but some of which is covered here.

Even with fast-moving events, this is a work that will just keep getting more and more relevant, so all those who want to know what it really going on should go out of their way to see it and by sticking with the October 7, 2023, will not be shaken by well-orchestrated distractions, even if it means war and murder.

The 1080p 1.85 X 1 digital High Definition image and DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix are as solid and professional as you can get for a documentary of this kind, mostly new footage shot on HD with mostly additional HD edited in and runs as smoothly as can be expected. Nice work.
