Larry
Cohen's The
Stuff
is a fun 1985 B-movie in a similar vein as The
Blob
and is now finding its way onto Blu-ray thanks to a superb release
from Arrow. Packed with a great extras and a superb looking
transfer, the film looks better than ever and is a must for fans.
The film stars Michael Moriarty, Andrea Marcovicci, and Garrett
Morrison.
A
new substance is discovered called The Stuff, which gets marketed
well, so people start to eat it and really enjoy it... except for one
young boy named Jason who saw it crawling around in his fridge and
has decided that he doesn't want to go anywhere near it. As The
Stuff starts to turn on its consumers, its up to Jason and his friend
Mo to overcome this ''stuff'' before it consumes them too!
The
film has a great cult following and special effects that still look
great to this day, especially here on Blu-ray disc. Brought to us in
a new 2K scan of the original camera negative, this 1080p high
definition transfer of the film in 1.85:1 widescreen and it's
original uncompressed PCM 2.0 Mono track brings it out like never
before. There is also a standard definition DVD included in the same
package that looks good with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a
lossy mono track, but not as good obviously as the Blu-ray.
