Bad
Asses On The Bayou (2015 aka Bad Ass 3/Fox DVD)

In
the day and age of The Expendables, the Bad Ass films
are pretty entertaining and put a sharp spin on the genre. This is
actually the third film in the series and stars the infamous Danny
Trejo (Machete) and Danny Glover as Frank Vega and Burnie Pop,
who unwillingly get invited to Louisiana for a wedding. Everything
seems fun and comfy at first, until the Bride is mysteriously
kidnapped and Vega and Pop end up having to kick ass to get some
answers and restore her in time for her wedding day.
The
film stars Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, John Amos, and Loni Love and is
directed by Craig Moss.
The
film in its opening credits almost promises a grindhouse-style fun
movie and what we get is a little less daring than that. The
production value is surprisingly clean and well executed throughout
the film, with some stunts seemingly a little too obviously fake.
The script is a little predictable, especially when the film tries to
make itself into this sort of intelligent caper mystery. The best
moments are had by Trejo and Glover themselves, who play off each
other pretty brilliantly and are pretty fun to watch throughout.
The
presentation is on the DVD format and is presented in standard
definition with a 1.85:1 ratio in an anamorphic widescreen frame,
paired with a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the presentation is fine
for the format but would ultimately benefit from a DVD upgrade.
Extras
only include a featurette on the Making Of the film and a slew of
commercials for other Fox titles. For more on the second film, try
