An
amusing comedy that works just well enough throughout that it might become some
kind of cult item, Tim Rutili’s All My
Friends Are Funeral Singers is about a psychic named Zel (Angela Bettis)
who has informative dead people (in white clothes, signifying they are angels
or close to heaven or the like) who give her the information she needs to help
her clients contact the dead or find out other things.
She lives
alone and one day finds out that alight in the nearby forest/park may signify
the end of this convenient arrangement.
A decent comedy with a few serious moments, the acting is not bad, but
not great, yet that may help it for some viewers. I could see why people enjoyed this and for
what it is, could not imagine it being any better without being The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. Still, it is amusing fun for those who might
be interested and is at least worth a look.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is not bad throughout and the Dolby
Digital 2.0 Stereo is well recorded enough, so you get a good enough
combination to enjoy, but expect some performance limits tied to the low
budget. Extras include a Music Video,
trailer, five featurettes and variant of the answering machine used in the
film.
