Now, for
our fourth review (can you believe it?) of the late Emile Ardolino’s Dirty Dancing, the 1987 independent hit
that still has a huge following and is being brought up and celebrated yet
again because of the tragic early passing of Patrick Swayze due to a terrible
illness. For those first three reviews,

The DVD
included in this box is the exact same transfer as the previous DTS DVD
editions, which is just fine, except it is not as good as the Blu-ray
version. With that said, fans will want
this box because it comes with a brand new hour of new features, a commemorative
booklet that is nicely done in a high quality way with good paper stock and
tribute to Swayze.
Of
course, I liked Swayze enough. He was
willing to take risks, was a hard-working actor, left behind some memorable
work and was doing some great work with the TV series The Beast, which I believe would have been a huge hit had he lived
and the show continued. As a result of
his loss too soon and considering all the care Lionsgate put into it, this
reissue of Dirty Dancing is likely
the best one they’ll ever come up with on DVD.
