Back in the time of China's warring states, Zhao Zilong
was just an ordinary soldier fighting to end the war and unite the kingdoms under
one rule. After Zhao Zilong single
handedly rescued the baby prince from deep behind enemy lines he is hailed a
hero and is promoted to one of the 5 Tiger Generals. After 30 years of war Zhao Zilong never lost a
battle and became known as the "Undefeated General". But after 30 years the war still goes on and
the end is no where in sight, Zhao Zilong leads his troops into battle one last
time...
Based on China's historical past the time period of the warring states, Three Kingdoms is about a commoner who
became a general, his crusade, and what he found at the end of his journey. This film is filled with martial arts action,
drama, honor, glory, friendships, betrayals, political change and up-risings. I enjoyed the film in how it touch on touch on
historical China,
it's culture, ideals and how people lived.
Better known as the 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms', this is based on somewhat
actual history of the clash of Han, Yuan and Ming Dynasty. While the dynasties were real, some of the
events/characters which took place has a more
folklore, fictional overtone. The story
reflects Confucian values within the time that it happened, teaching moral
values, loyalty and devotion, importance of family, friends and honor, what
makes a good man or how a good man can fall from grace as well. But with an all star cast of Andy Lau, Sammo
Hung, and Maggie Q, this film is still great to watch for martial arts alone. If you like Asian films this is a good one to
watch. Extras include interviews with
cast and director and trailer gallery.
