Gary Moore – The Definitive Montreux Collection (Eagle DVD/CD Set)
Picture:

Eagle has
issued a 3-disc set of what is supposed to be all of Gary Moore at Montreux, but this so-called Definitive Montreux Collection falls a bit short and all I had to
do was reference my coverage of his 1990 appearance there. You can read about him and all about it here:

Though
the first of the two DVDs in this set has seven of the tracks from that show,
the older disc has 16 and bonus tracks, making this more like a sampler. In addition, we get concerts from 1995, 1997,
1999 and 2001 across both DVDs and 11-track CD.
There are no extras, unless you count the CD as such and a thin, tiny
booklet is also included.
Of
course, the newer shows are 1.78 X 1 and older shows 1.33 X 1 with par with the
previous DVD’s performance. We get DTS
5.1 as the best of three sound options (The Dolby Digital 5.1 is weaker and
Dolby 2.0 Stereo weakest) so Eagle has done its best to make the sound as good
as it could considering the mixed condition of the sources. You can hear the limits in the roughness of
the PCM 16/44.1 Stereo sound on the CD.
I am impressed with Moore’s
endurance and enduring talent, so this is still a fine set, but for the title
used, this should have had a third DVD.
