William Conrad’s
Cannon continues to roll out on DVD,
proving there is a particular love and demand for TV hits of the 1970s,
especially when they are as smart as this one.
You can read about the previous editions of the show beginning with our
coverage of the first DVD set:

Guest
stars for this Season Two, Volume Two
half season include Paul Michael Glazer, Geoffrey Lewis, Maxine Stuart, Greg
Mullavey, John Vernon, Fritz Weaver, Tom Kennedy, Ramon Bieri, Jim McMullan,
Michael Pataki, Geraldine Brooks, Jeff Donnell, Shelley Duvall, Oscar Beregi
Jr., Eileen Ryan, Bill Zukert, Margaret Fairchild, Kathryn Reynolds and Glynn
Turman. Some will be familiar by name,
others by face when you see them, but the acting is decent and so are the
scripts. One unexpected plus is solving
the murders in a pre-digital era, which is why I think these shows are finding
new audiences all the time. Conrad was
also a star for good reason. I would start
at the beginning, but this is not a bad set.
The 1.33
X 1 full frame image continues to disappoint in so far as digititis, aliasing
errors and other artifacts getting in the way of good looking, well filmed (on
35mm film no less) episodes and they should/will eventually do Blu-rays. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono tracks per
episodes are just as good as the previous sets, so that is not as much a
problem. Promos for each episode are the
only extras, but the next upcoming DVD sets really ought to offer more.
