Knights Of The Zodiac 3 – Out Of The Arena (Animé TV)

The DIC
Company has yet to produce any animation I can take seriously and their
children’s animation action show Knights
Of The Zodiac is an excellent example of everything they tend to do
wrong. The title characters are knights,
but the armor is minimal, plus, they fly around often. These Bronze Knights battle the Black Knights
in each show and geez is it
boring. This is the kind of TV for children
that has ruined TV, with its only saving grace that there was not a ton of
sickening toy tie-ins.
The
episodes are as follows:
9) The Black Knights Appear
10) Dragon In The Graveyard Of Knights
11) Seiya Battles Black Pegasus
12) The Nebula Chain Of Friendship
It also
has that annoying knack of throwing around mystical and scientific names in a
way the comic books used to be criticized for, but now look like great
literature in comparison. The answer to
everything is pretty much violence, even if it is on a watered-down level. It is soulless, boring, and tired.
That
extends to the animation, which is here in its obviously pencil-drawn 1.33 x 1
full frame annoyance. Colors are almost
dull at times, making this look as old as the animation itself is so
oversimplified. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
is the only thing on the DVD that has a sliver of merit, with Pro Logic
surrounds that are much better than expected.
There are no extras, which is no surprise since the show is even too
shallow for the most inattentive children.
Knights Of The Zodiac is as
pointless as the latest horoscope prediction, and is not recommended at all.
