Bedroom Walls – I Saw You Coming Back To Me (CD)
Sound: B Music: C+
The
author has decided to write the entire review as a series of haikus.
Bedroom
Walls' debut:
They
dubbed it "romanticore”.
Sounds
like Mazzy Star.
This
"romanticored":
Don't we
have enough genres
Without
another?
They
titled a song
"Landlord!
Watch! Coffin! Angels!"
What does
that tell you?
I bet
they refer
To
themselves not as a "band",
but a
"collective".
Ponderous
rhythms,
Lacking
any dynamic.
Stays in
the same gear.
Only
"Winter, That's All"
And
"More 'Real Cats'" show any
Signals
of a pulse.
Everything
else is
Consciously
unimpacting.
Soon
you'll forget it.
Nothing
sticks with you,
Melodically,
tunefully.
It's airy
and twee
Like a
nature film,
When the
animals just sit,
Stare,
and scratch themselves.
Nine
tracks here, but this
Should be
an EP release
With a
few less tracks.
That way,
one might think
That this
group could be better
Than they
really are.
