Carlos Santana Presents Blues At
Montreux 2004 (Eagle Vision
Blu-ray)

Sound: B+ Extras: D Concert: B
After having the DVD set out for a while, Eagle has
decided to issue their extended version of Carlos
Santana Presents Blues At Montreux 2004 on Blu-ray. They did an abbreviated DVD, but the
full-length version was covered at this link:

So is the Blu-ray an improvement. Absolutely yes. The 1080i 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition
image is clearer enough to make the upgrade with better color, detail and
depth, though there is still motion blur and other detail issues, plus Video
Black still has some issues. The sound
is even more of a jump, with the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 5.1 mix far
outdoing the DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM 2.0 Stereo from the DVD and the Dolby
Digital 5.1 and PCM 2.0 Stereo on this Blu-ray.
Though we have had dramatic improvements before, this is
the biggest jump in audio performance we have had between a DVD and Blu-ray for
a concert yet. A fine set of shows all
now on one disc and with playback better than ever, this will become a fan and
music lover’s favorite.
There are no extras, but you can read more about other
