Stan Helsing (2009/Anchor Bay DVD)

The dumbest comedy franchise (vaguely connected by doing
the same poster to death) is maybe one of the biggest tax write-offs in
Hollywood history as the Scary Movie
send-up junta continues their losing ways with Stan Helsing (2009) takes the actually funny on TV sitcom Reba actor Steve Howey and makes him
totally unfunny (as a lost relative of Van Helsing, though don’t even being to
hope for an explanation) like the rest of this 90 minutes of stupidity. It is a total wreck and Kenan Thompson also
shows up in the kind of “funny superhero outfit” African-Americans seem to
always show up in when they want to be unfunny.
But it is much, much, much worse than this. It is beyond a total waste of time, the
writers seem to be as wasted as the characters, Bram Stoker should return and
burn the negative and you should skip this like the H1N1 virus!
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 image is on the soft
side and color can look phony often, but these spoofs have a subtly phony look,
so no surprise there. The Dolby Digital
5.1 mix is towards the center channels, oddly compressed throughout and has a
weak soundstage overall. Extras include the
original theatrical trailer, making of featurette, feature length audio
commentary, storyboard gallery, stills, Outtakes, and Extended, Alternate &
Deleted Scenes; all of little worth.
