Despite
losing (we hope temporarily) Noel Fielding as Richmond, The IT Crowd is back for a Third
Season and though Matt Berry’s character Douglas the crazy boss has been
upped, the show continues to be very funny and the show as strong as

Roy
(Chris O’Dowd), Moss (Richard Ayoade) and Jen (Katherine Parkinson) are back
and the chemistry is as strong as ever, along with the comic timing, but credit
should also go to series creator Graham Linehan, who has taken further creative
control over the show by directing more episodes. The episodes on this set include:

Though
the last season ended on a cliffhanger, that storyline is not picked up until
the third episode here for whatever reason.
In addition, the first show has an awkward beginning and only recovers
later. Once again, the show especially
shines in its moments of physical and silent comedy, but the jokes and ideas
behind them are top rate as usual. We
recommend you start at the beginning to get the most out of the jokes, but if
you start with a later season, you’ll still find some big laughs.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image can again be soft in places and have some motion blur,
but are clean, color rich and consistently good throughout otherwise. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo continues to be
just fine, right down to the great instrumental theme song by Neil Hannon and dialogue
is just fine. Extras include commentary
with Linehan on all episodes once again, interview with Linehan on camera,
Original Title Sequence Animatics, tour of the set, deleted scenes and more very
funny outtakes to be watched after you see the shows.
