After an
amusing start, the sometimes campy Blood
Ties moved on to a second season and here is our coverage on Season One if you are not familiar with
the show:

The show
had three directions it could move on to from the first: 1) get better, 2)
become funnier intentionally or not or 3) become dull and run into
problems. Sadly, the last option is
where we are taken. Some storylines are
bad, some scenes laughably bad in the worst way and worst of all, there is less
energy than there was in the debut season.
Episodes this time include:
1)
Wild Blood
2)
5:55
3)
Bugged
4)
The Devil Knows You
5)
Drawn & Quartered
6)
Wrapped
7)
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
8)
We’ll Meet Again
9)
Deep Dark
Another
problem is not enough is made of the vampire-as-comic-book-artist angle,
something that you could build a subplot or two on, but the show is too
satisfied with being processed product at this point and as it looks to move on
to a third season, it can only last so long going down a path too often taken.
The
program was again shot in HD video and is not anamorphically enhanced, but
letterboxed 1.78 X 1. Detail is an issue
as a result and this time, color and other clarity points suffer, making one
wonder if it is and remains 1080i production over 1080p. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has very limited
surrounds, but is a good recording, though some harshness from the digital
recording and mixing is present and the pseudo-Rock score (including the theme
song) are as annoying as they are forgettable.
Extras include a trailer for the First Season and a Photo Gallery.
