Brad T. Gottfried is one of the braver independent
directors and actors we have seen lately.
His new feature Orgies & The Meaning Of Life (2009) deals
with a sexual identity crisis where he wants to be with many women, including
more than one at the same time and does to hold back much in showing how his
character is thinking all the possibilities through.
Though I do not think he comes up with all the answers or
even well-rounded total ways to deal with all that he tackles here, but his
ambition is impressive enough to recommend this disc with only some
reservations. Also, viewers should be
warned that this offers some mature subject matter and does not betray the
audience with the kind of violence that is really a given director as coward,
too scarred to deal with sexual intimacy.
Hope we see more from him soon.
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft
throughout, originating on digital video, but it is consistent and some of the
editing and composition choices help.
The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is not perfect or rich all the time, but it
is better than the image and has some interesting sound moments. Extras include text form the direct we
recommend you see after watching the
feature and shorts, stills, deleted scenes and two short films that can also be
on the bold side.
