The Adventures Of Robin Hood
– The Complete Series (1955 – 59/British/Mill Creek Entertainment)

NOTE: Mill Creek has also made all four
separate seasons available in their own sets.
Now
joining only a few of the hit TV shows of the 1950s to be totally available on
DVD, The Adventures Of Robin Hood is
a rare look at all the great talent British TV even had to offer then like no
other. You can read more about the
series from our coverage of the First Season at this link:

The 1.33
X 1 black and white image and Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono sound throughout all four
seasons is about the same. Sound can
show its age, the source material Mill Creek had to work with was not always
optimal and someone should fix up the show for future generations on film and
for Blu-ray. Playback can be uneven, but
it is as good as you are going to see for w while.
This
Richard Greene version is more serious and mature versus later series, yet also
has the problem of people sometimes seeming to talk at each other instead of to
each other. However, many might still
find that refreshing versus the kind of childish, jokey moments genre shows
have today.
Fans will
find it a must-see either way.
