Over the years, we have seen a little of the Winnie The Pooh franchise, but not as much as you would think.  Our previous two titles include:

Pooh’s Grand Adventure

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie

Now comes one of the last theatrical film releases to date, The Tigger Movie, released in 1990 as the computer animation era started to eclipse hand-drawn work.  Some such features hold up better than others and this is entertaining, but the film was always just above the usual Pooh offerings and holds up just enough to justify this release.

It is partly a musical and the backgrounds and animation are true to Pooh, but that also means noticeable pencil drawing, yet that is welcome and a plus.  Nice to see something looking more natural than CG.  There are also songs along the way and though they are not too memorable, they are not bad.  The story is about Tigger finding other animals like himself and it is a good child-safe story as is typical of these releases.  Not a classic, but not bad.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 image is not bad, though there are moments where detail is weak; the good shots outdo the bad in this transfer.  The film was a digital 5.1 sound release, with the Dolby Digital 5.1 the only representation of that here.  Dialogue can be boxy, but this sounds good otherwise.  Too bad it is not DTS.  Extras include Digital Copy for PC and PC portable devices, two more Tigger adventures (King Of The Beasties, Tigger’s Houseguest), a sing-a-long, digital storybook, original theatrical trailer, How To Make Your Own Family Tree, two games and Music Video for the Kenny Loggins soundtrack single Your Heart Will Lead You Home.
