Black Crowes – Warpaint Live (Eagle Blu-ray)
Picture: B- Sound: B Extras: D Concert: C+
In their
second Blu-ray concert release, The Black Crowes prove they are still a viable
band who likes to perform and cares about their audience, but Warpaint Live is more of a hit and miss
show than their previous release Freak
& Roll, which you can read more about at this link:

Certainly
not the most commercial set of songs they ever made, which is a good thing, yet
this is the entire content of their latest album and shows a band trying to say
something new instead of being content to become a legacy act. The results may not be to my tastes, but they
are more ambitious than most Rock acts today and they never sold out, so fans should
be happy and the curious should give it a look.
The 1080i
1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is weaker than expected with bad
background reproduction (esp. the audience) and softness throughout that
undermines the show. The DTS-HD Master
Audio (MA) lossless 5.1 is a little better than the PCM 16/48 5.1 and Dolby Digital
5.1 mixes, but is not a spectacular mix, not taking advantage of the fidelity
of the DTS-MA as it should. The
combination is not as good as the previous Blu-ray. There are no extras.
