Plague Town (2008/Dark Sky Blu-ray + DVD)
Picture: C Sound: B-/C+ Extras: C Film: D
Plague Town is about a small village that the
children have a disease that makes them run amok, to the point of murder. They resemble zombies, and act like psychopaths.
There is the general idea. Gore hounds and people with a juvenile taste
in movies may enjoy this, but to everyone else this movie is unwatchable.
Horrible
acting, terrible directing, and a script made by someone that just wants to
have gore. This is a movie coming from a
guy that has directed about 50 titles since 2002. How they get funded, is way beyond me. Avoid at all costs!
The 16x9/1.78 X 1, 1080p High Definition picture is consistently
amiss. Scenes rarely show off the colors they would like to use and the
overall picture is gray and grainy. It
involves the way they filmed the movie more so then the transfer, which is even
harder to watch on the anamorphically enhanced DVD. The Lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio lossless
on the Blu-ray accommodates the films eerie sounds and does not do a bad job
everything else, while the PCM 2.0 Stereo is much weaker, as is the Dolby
Digital 5.1 on the DVD. The sound can be
harsh in the highs in all cases.
Extras include an Audio commentary and two making of featurettes.
