The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005/Disney Blu-ray)

Long before his commercial success, Shia LaBeouf proved he
could carry a film with the film that remains (and may remain for a long time)
his most underrated work. Like Jake
Gyllenhaal in October Sky, The Greatest Game Ever Played was an
artistic victory for LaBeouf as an actor and we covered the DVD a while ago
upon its first release at this link:

The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is a nice
improvement over the DVD, though it still has some issues in softness, it is
not the outright weak disappointment the DVD was. Black can be ill-defined and detail lacking
in some shots, but this is much closer to the 35mm prints of the film
originally issued. The DTS-HD Master
Audio (MA) lossless 5.1 is also an improvement with the foreign Dolby Digital
5.1 mixes here and English mix on the older DVD, which is warm and clear even
when the surrounds are not kicking in much.
The combination is a pleasant viewing experience for the most part and
will hopefully help the film get the audience it deserves. Extras are the same as the DVD and all good.
