The
overdose of often predictable, sometimes pointless and too often propagandic
religious DVD continues with two new programs that are on the sincere side, but
are basic no matter what new ideas are presented. Two new programs are on the accurate side
covering two world religions, but only does so much to expand on them.
The Bible Unearthed is a four-part hour-long
mini-series connecting faith and study with archeology has some interesting
moments, but unless you care about the religion, this is a flat series. It preaches to the “already converted” as
they say and inadvertently hoping to go for an Indiana Jones crowd, minus the
action or fun, while Inside The Koran
tries to explain the sacred Islamic document and is also not bad. However, it too only goes so far and is only
for those who really care. Both are not
bad if you are studying either faith, but others can skip them.
The letterboxed
1.78 X 1 image on Koran and on Bible are softer than usual and also
detail challenged, plus have some aliasing errors throughout. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is simple and
not bad, but can be uneven and inconsistent, so expect roughness at times. Neither have any extras, unless trailers
count.
