One of
the dumbest “serious” teen films in a while sad wastes a British cast and Olly
Blackburn’s Donkey Punch (2007) may
have a good teen cast and some good acting, but its story is so bad, I sat in
disbelief that this was the final cut.
A bunch
of teens get drunk and high, which leads to sex they tape, but then they
videotape everything. Of course, if you
get high, have sex and record it, you must die!
Well, it
begins when one of the teen is accidentally killed in one fop the dumbest
accidental murders in decades, one we wonder if it could happen as it does
here. Even if we have it as a given that
it did happen, this turns into a bad formula flick where no one can trust
anyone else to be quiet, so they turn on each other. The rest is obvious, tired, condescending and
to be skipped. Yawn.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 image is a bit on the weak side in detail and
definition, but the shoot is generally consistent with few other problems. The Dolby Digital 5.1 is not as expansive as
hoped for, with the Dolby 2.0 Stereo weaker, but dialogue noticeably not at its
best. Extras include useless deleted
scenes, cast interviews, feature length director audio commentary, director
interview and a making of featurette.
