Craig
Ferguson is one of those few comedians who actually understands the meaning and
definition of wit, which seems more and more like a lost art every time one
turns around. His late night talk show
has held steady and been a formidable success.
Now, one of his stand-up performances has been issued on DVD. A Wee
Bit O’ Revolution is 80 minutes long and though I thought it was uneven, he
was always trying and the programs is one of the better stand-up discs we
received lately.
One thing
he does do better than most stand-ups is he is able to really communicate with
his audience and that is rarer than ever these days. Too many comedians seem more like they are
talking at the audience or even to themselves when they speak, making their
humor as trivial and worthless as their attitude. The best comics connect and that is why this
disc is worth a good look.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is a little soft and an HD shoot, but is colorful
despite its limits. The Dolby Digital
5.1 & 2.0 Stereo mixes have no major surrounds, but it is a good recording
with no problems. Extras include an
interview and a speech Ferguson recently gave.
