For more
in-depth Smurf coverage, you can
read about our previous reviews covering the first two volumes from season one,
here
and here. This time around we are covering a single-disc
entry simply called True Blue Friends,
which compiles 5 random episodes into a 90-minute adventure.
The
advantage of this particular DVD though is that it gives viewers a good dosage
of The Smurf’s, in particular kids, and rather than buying a whole season
without knowing whether or not they will like them. Here we get a good sampling from the show
that will definitely serve as a good starter disc for many children to see if
they grow found of the show, of course adult fans can also recall their
childhood through these episodes as the Smurfs battle new villains and find new
ways to use their Smurf charm to win over audiences.
Presented
in it’s original broadcast ratio of 1.33 X 1 the animation looks good with very
little dating to it, the Dolby Digital stereo mix is also adequate and is
consistent with it’s original broadcast mix.
Kids
recommended or adults who still wish they were kids!
