Just Shoot Me - The Complete Third Season (1998 – 9/Sony DVD)

When Just Shoot Me first turned up on TV, I
was surprised how sharp, smart and rich the first few episodes of the show
were. It was some of the best U.S.
sitcom TV in years, then the show got silly and surprise, it became a hit. By the time of its third season, it was like
any other dumbed-down sitcom; a money machine for increasingly bad TV ads with
no memorability and it is a shame.
The
original cast including Laura San Giacomo, George Segal, Wendie Malick and
David Spade are still here, but what are they really doing? It is not being very funny and being mildly
cute and unfunny is not the same thing.
Spade is especially flat and dull by this time to the point that you
wonder why he is not yawning or walking off the set. At least this stops him from making more bad
feature films. All 25 lame half-hours are
here on 3 DVDs.
The 1.33
X 1 image is one of the last sitcoms in the old block-style old-picture tube
shape and it is softer here than such a relatively recent production should be,
including dull colors throughout. The Dolby
Digital 2.0 Stereo claims Pro Logic-type surrounds on the back of the case, but
they are as weak as the picture. There
are no extras.
