Elmo Loves You (Sesame
Street/Genius DVD)

Elmo
remains popular, no matter what, with not everyone finding him to be their
favorite Muppet. However, Elmo Loves You is a short but
interesting new DVD program (46 minutes long, similar to other such releases in
the series) that is meant to build self-esteem in child viewers more directly
than these shows usually do and does a fine job as a result.
The cover
even has a silver heart that is mirror-like so children can see their face in
it, which is a nice gesture. Trisha
Yearwood, R.E.M. and John Legend even stop by to help get these messages across
and it is solid viewing when all is said and done. Sure, you expect these shows to be good, but
this one delivers when it counts and maybe we should give Sesame Street and
Elmo more credit.
The 1.33 x 1 image is not bad like the previous DVDs in
the series, with nice color and a good look for an analog NTSC shoot, but the
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is surprisingly problematic and distorted
throughout. There are no major extras
and we will not count trailers.
