With more
episodes to its sophomore season, Kyle
XY has tried to richen its storyline, but it only stopped it from being
less pandering and weak than its first season, which we previously covered at
this link:

The genetically
engineered title character (Matt Dallas) who has no belly button is quickly
figuring out he is being played in a sham because of his unusual origins and
that his secrets may be held by people who he cannot trust. We have seen this all before, but The Complete Second Season: Revelations
tries to add energy and progress to the narrative, but what it gains in some
ways is just enough to keep it afloat.
It could have tanked altogether, but the makers knew they had to do
something with their somewhat formula show and the results are still
average. This time we get 23 shows
(versus 10 in the debut season) and now, if you want to see the show, you
should start at the beginning.
Like the
last set, the anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and lacks depth,
despite some color consistency. The
Dolby Digital 5.1 is too front heavy for its own good, making the 5.1 upgrade still
feel like an afterthought. Extras
include an alternate ending, deleted scenes, audio commentary tracks on some
episodes and two featurettes: Living With The X’s and The
Science Of Kyle XY.
