Having
said everything I would ever want to say about Jerry Zucker’s Ghost (1990) in my DVD review, the new
Blu-ray only leaves technical aspects to cover.
For those unfamiliar with the film, here is the link to that DVD
coverage:

The 1080p
1.85 x 1 digital High Definition image is still a bit of a disappointment
considering how good Adam Greenberg’s cinematography looked at the time, not to
mention an interesting commercial turn for the brilliant editor Walter Murch,
but this HD sourced version still should be much cleaner and clearer despite
being an improvement over the DVD, with more detail and depth like the original
35mm prints. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 is
even less of an improvement over the problematic Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes on the
DVD and repeated here, with only so much good surround activity. The punch of the original Dolby analog SR (Spectral
Recording) mix is as distant as ever from the warmth and fullness of the PCM
2.0 Stereo tracks from the old 12” LaserDisc.
What happened to the sound?
Extras from
the DVD are repeated here too.
