The Heartbreak Kid (2007)/Hot Rod/Old School (Paramount Blu-rays)

Matching
films they previously issued in the now-defunct HD-DVD format, Paramount has
issued three of their recent comedies on Blu-ray, all of which we have reviewed
before. They include the terrible 2007
remake of The Heartbreak Kid with
Ben Stiller, the underwhelming Adam Samberg motorcycle stunt comedy Hot Rod and the very old (as in endless
predictability and clichés) school-as-joke fest Old School. Here are our
HD-DVD legacy coverage on all three films:

Except
for the pointless upgrade on Old School
of Dolby TrueHD 5.1 over merely Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 (also included, more or
less, on this new version), these three reissues are virtually the same as
their discontinued counterparts in the failed format aforementioned. The TrueHD on School is a very narrow upgrade
for a soundmix that was not that great to begin with. You also get the same extras on the new
versions as you did on the old. Anyone
who cares can consider the Blu-rays definitive, for what that’s worth.
