Another
charity concert, Keane – War Child (2007)
tries to raise funds and awareness for exploited and in-danger children
including guests performing their own separate music segments. Teddy Thompson, Findlay Brown, Brendan
Benson, The Magic Numbers, Pet Shop Boys, Lily Allen and (in the bonus section)
Guillemots all step up to help the charity simply entitled War Child.
The
concert is uneven and sometimes a bit awkward musically, not staying with this
viewer for long, but it is a sincere, ambitious event and for all intents and
purposes, should be an annual event. The
U.S. is one of the countries often declining to sign any documents establishing
children’s rights. More events like this
and recent political changes could change that too.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 is on the soft side throughout, but it is at least clean and
consistent. The DTS 5.1 mix is better
than the Dolby here, but the mix in general is a little off. The sound can have some good moments, but it
could be better. Extras include some
bonus tracks.
