SpongeBob SquarePants – Season 5, Volume 2 (Nickelodeon DVD)

I was never sold on the idea that SpongeBob SquarePants would be an enduring hit show, though I could see its appeal and though it has been a while since we looked at more than a few episodes of the show via the single DVDs they keep making, Nickelodeon has issued the second half of the Fifth Season.  You can read our enthusiastic coverage of the Second Season at this link:

As far as I am concerned, the show looks and sounds as good as it ever has, though I thing all the DVDs of the show have had the same fine color reproduction with aliasing errors here and there.  The money is being put into the show and at this point, the energy, good sense of humor and wit has held up surprisingly well.  The episodes in this set include:

1.33 X 1 continues to be the aspect ratio of the series, making one wonder if it will go HD and widescreen during its run, or be cancelled and quickly replaced with some kind of successor.  I wish they were doing 5.1 sound because of its possibilities, but not here.  Five karaoke Music Videos are sadly the only extra.
