Sold Out: A Threevening With Kevin Smith (Genius/Weinstein DVD Set)

With the
release of Zack & Miri Make A Porno,
Kevin Smith is making certain he has more material out there to generate more
interest in his humor and the new double DVD concert Sold Out: A Threevening With Kevin Smith is a continuation of this
marketing/world view approach. We
previously looked at another concert set with this set:

This
time, Smith is back in his hometown and though he can be amusing, entertaining
and crudely bold, this is simply not as funny or thought-provoking as the last
set. He seems to be slightly out of his
element and has less to say, though he still subverts some propriety. Unfortunately, he stops to short too many times
and the result is that this becomes uneven and has spots that drag. At least he has not sold out his audience,
but he may be running out of things to say.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is a little softer than expected, though
clean and color consistent, should have looked as good or better than the
previous release, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is good enough for a
stand-up concert. Extras include extra
highlights from the concerts in questions asked of Smith. Fans will be happy enough.
