The Bourne Trilogy (Universal DVD)

The Jason
Bourne films are back in another DVD box set, though a companion Blu-ray set is
not due yet, we have this collection for those who do not want to buy them
separately. Here is our coverage of the
trilogy in separate editions in the now-defunct HD-DVD format as follows:
Identity (2002)

Supremacy (2004)

Ultimatum (2007)

They all
have the same extras as these DVDs save the interactivity that format had over
the 11+ year old DVD format. The
anamorphically enhanced 2.35 X 1 image on all the discs are showing their age
with limited picture quality, with the third even looking weaker than the DVD
side of the HD-DVD/DVD Combo edition.
All have Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes that are lively, but no match for the
newer, better codecs like DTS HD MA and Dolby TrueHD, though those HD-DVDs
sometimes only had pumped up Dolby Digital Plus.
A fourth
film is now on the way with a writer that I am not ecstatic about, but this is
just pre-production, so we’ll see where this goes. Until then, here is what we would think is
the last DVD set of the trilogy.
