In yet
another stand up comedy DVD, Carlos
Mencia – Performance Enhanced (2008) has the stand-up comedian back with
more amusing stories that are sometimes funny, but nothing that made me laugh
out loud or hard, yet he has some very interesting things to say and is always
entertaining all around. It can be
explicit at times, but even that has context.
Mencia
has yet to break wide as a top comedian, but he is sure a consistent survivor
and if you are interested, this is worth a good look.
The 1.33
X 1 image is on the soft side and can have some aliasing issues, but the color
richness of the NTSC analog taping is a plus and looks better than many stand
up DVDs we have seen from HD shoots. The
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is a good recording but nothing exceptional. Comedy Central Quickies (four highlights in
this case of other shows from the network) and two Mencia appearances on other
shows are the extras.
