In
another grab for the vast and vastly valuable CG animation market, there is a
third tier of production that usually lands up only on TV and DVD, all aimed at
children with the hopes that the storyline will capture that audience where
limits in technology and money cannot. The Legend Of Sasquatch (2008) makes
the legendary Bigfoot into a fuzzy friendly manageable creature you can high
five and have fun with.
The DVD
case we got even has a paperboard slipcover with a fuzzy faced title character
made of faux fur in the center in case you did not get the point. William Hurt and John Rhys-Davies are the
lead voices in this adequate production, but its short 74 minutes have limited
impact and though it is child-friendly enough, is just not that memorable. Unless the young ones enjoy the creature,
they are likely to get bored quickly, even when we get a whole family of them.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and though color is consistent, it is limited
like the detail and animation itself.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 mixes are nothing to write home about,
sometimes featuring music and recorded adequately. Nothing in either case is very
memorable. Extras include a quiz,
trailer, audio commentary and making of featurette.
