Pinky Dinky Doo – Polka Dot Pox (Genius DVD)

I had
never really looked at the very simply animated TV series Pinky Dinky Doo, but the new DVD Polka Dot Pox features four episodes of the show, and though it is
very simple and I was not even too impressed, I felt it was still a child-safe
quality series for young children just the same. They might get bored with it, but it is hard
to tell.
Pinky is
7 years old and this is part of a cycle of archetype tales that had been told
for decades and longer about the young lady in a big city, for which it is a
simpler version, but may just have to be to reach its audience. That would explain its success, but then, it
is from the creators of Sesame Street.
The 1.33
X 1 image has aliasing errors too often for its own good, despite some good
color, but this transfer is not what it could be for a new show. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has no
surrounds, but is better than the image and a recent recording. Very simple interactive version of each
episode is considered an extra, but we will not, though children might enjoy
that. It really needs to be separate to
count for us.
