The
Christmas Special market is becoming overcrowded, but because the holiday is so
popular beyond any religion, but even the most well intended can
disappoint. One such case is Sesame Street – Elmo’s Christmas Countdown
in which we get some big name guests (Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia
Keys, Sheryl Crow and Jamie Foxx among others) and only 44 minutes of
programming. What?!?
Yes, only
44 minutes, so considering Elmo is the reddest thing since Santa to be popular
with young children you’d think we’d get much more and a show that was not so
short as it is choppy. Of course, many
children will watch anything Elmo, no matter how short and Abby Cadabby is here
too, so they get to be with the newest of the great Muppet duos, but if they
want it, it is child-friendly enough as expected and if they want it, get it.
The 1.33
X 1 image looks very good for an NTSC analog taping, with good color, some good
detail and clean recordings. The Dolby
Digital 2.0 Stereo is also good and clear, but nothing above the other DVDs in
this series. The only extra is previews
for three other titles in the series.
