Lucha Libre – Life Behind The Mask (Eagle DVD)

Wrestling
is very popular in Mexico, especially the masked kind as the long-running Santo film series and lame comedy Nacho Libre reminds us, but beyond
fiction is the real thing and Lucha
Libre – Life Behind The Mask gives us a look at that world, the men who are
involved in it and the children and adults who love it.
Running
about 70 minutes, the program (with many English captions) shows the unglamorous
side of the original version of wrestling with flash and wild costumes. Though it can be rough and does not have
enough time to make a deeper examination, it is a good and somewhat rare look
at the sport, even including reflections of the past. For those interested, you will find it
interesting enough.
The 1.33
X 1 image is in color and originated on NTSC video of some kind, possibly with
some low def digital involved, but is soft throughout. The Dolby Digital 2.0 is simple stereo at
best. There are no extras.
