Steven
Seagal is back and heavier than ever in Jeff F. King’s wacky actioner Kill Switch (2007) where it is obvious
that he is well past his prime and to make up for how obvious it was in his
last releases that he could hardly do action, sound has been added to make it
sound more exciting than it is. He is a
“legendary” detective taking on a psycho-killer punk.
Unfortunately,
this is everything we have seen before, but his fake southern accent and that
of the killer’s make this more unintentionally funny than expected. That is until the late Isaac Hayes (in one of
his last roles) shows up as a coroner in a role where he is supposed to be
somewhat funny, but is oddball in this mess.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is very soft and tired, with bad editing (to make
Seagal look better, the impact of his punches or the like are repeated several
times like a bad Music Video) and sloppy pacing. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is weak with
limited dialogue fidelity and soundfield.
Extras include previews for other First Look releases.
