Matthew
Broderick is back playing the same up to no good nice dork, this time with a
gambling problem that makes him a perpetual liar in Peter Tolan’s Finding Amanda (2007) which causes him
troubles with his marriage to Lorraine (Laura Tierney) so he does the one thing
that will really help his situation: fly to Las Vegas!
What!?! Yes and the excuse is to save his niece
(Brittany Snow) from being a hooker, but this would be farce is such a waste of
time for the actors and viewer that only some intermittent moments save it from
outright disaster. At 96 minutes, it
becomes a run-on proposition quickly and Broderick can only repeat himself,
bringing nothing new to this mess. We’ve
seen worse, but this one is quickly forgettable.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is surprisingly soft considering who the star is, with
poor color and bad shots to boot. The
Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo mixes fare better, but no by much with flat
sound in both cases and the 5.1 really stretching it. Extras include a world premiere interviews
piece and commentary track by Broderick and Tolan.
