If all you know about the Rap group Onyx is their hit “Slam” and their uneasy relationship with the law, you will be surprised by Onyx: 15 Years Of Videos, History & Violence, a new compilation overview with 17 of their Music Videos and more in what has to be one of the best Rap/Hip Hop DVDs we have seen hit the market.  It helps that the material and artists are interesting and have something to show.

The collaborations are interesting, but Onyx is more than able to hold its own and they never run out of ideas or energy, which is what this genre is all about.  Hardcore as they are, not all of the Rap faithful have been as consistent.  Now they have a record of how they did it.

 

Extras include rare footage of the band in one bonus section, plus audio commentary by Sticky Fingaz & Fredro Starr for the videos, stills, Santa Baby Video, Slam Karaoke and solos videos by Fingaz (Get It Up, Can’t Call It) and Starr (Dat Be Dem, California Girls and the fascinating Perfect Bitch) that proves they have talent, were not a one hit wonder and are one of the better acts in the genre.
