Dora The Explorer – Dora & The Snow Princess (Nickelodeon DVD)

In the
franchise so far as we know it, Dora The
Explorer has been about exploring the world as we know it through a child’s
eyes in animation and simplifying it just enough to make it accessible. It has been real enough and interactive
enough to be a quality show about developing skills and senses to integrate
into the world outside. However, the
somewhat short Dora & The Snow
Princess places her in the Fantasy genre in telling a tall tale.
Sure, it
makes sense that, since she is a young female figure, it would be inevitable to
do something akin to Cinderella or the like, with a Dora surrogate going on
this adventure to find The Snow Fairy.
It is child-friendly and just fine for what it is, but it never really
goes anywhere and eventually, it is about making Dora more feminine and dressy.
The 1.33
X 1 image is as good as past Dora DVDs and that’s fine enough, with the usual
color schemes and hardly any aliasing errors.
The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is also good and clear as the previous
shows, well recorded, but nothing spectacular.
The only extras are a Music Video and simple Princess Maze Game.
