Sarah Landon & The Paranormal Hour (Sony DVD)

Meant for
a younger audience, Sarah Landon &
The Paranormal Hour (2007) is a terrible entry in yet another franchise
that wants to be like Nancy Drew, but is miles away from Pamela Sue Martin or
anything resembling semi-challenging mystery material for young ladies, even
supernatural ones. We guess The Witching
Hour is too potent a description, we guess, and not politically correct enough
so they had the nerve to rename it in the title!
That is
not the only thing smug about this bore, but at least I have suffered though it
so you do not. If this is going to be a
franchise, Rissa Walters and the makers had better do better than this.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is shockingly weak, soft and badly shot,
down to the editing, with no form and taking the non-suspense to a lower
level. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is a
bit better, but you can tell this was not conceived for multi-channel in the
least and is weak. A lame game is the
only extra.
