Even
though the previous edition of It’s The
Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown that Paramount had in circulation for a while
was a nice DVD, it is now out of print and has been succeeded by a new,
upgraded version as part of Warner Home Video’s fun reissue series of animated
Charlie Brown shows. It is also one of
the titles we happened to have covered before, so here is the review of that
disc:

The new
edition also continues Warner’s nice paperboard slipcases with nice
semi-metallic color, but the best part is that the episodes have been upgraded
and though this has some better definition and color than the previous DVD,
that DVD was not bad and so the improvement is marginal. Also, we get Dolby Digital 2.0 and not 1.0
Mono, something that was not always better than the pervious DVDs in the
reissues.
As for
extras, you get more this time, but in place of the very entertaining You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown from
1972 which deserves to be reissued on one of these discs, Warner and the makers
have added the more befitting It’s Magic,
Charlie Brown and a fine new documentary about the making of Great Pumpkin
entitled We Need a Blockbuster, Charlie
Brown that everyone will enjoy.
