Jimmy Dore – Citizen Jimmy (Image Entertainment DVD/Comedy)

You can
have good jokes about something like politics and the many idiocies of the
second Bush Administration, but Jimmy Dore gives it his best shot in his new
concert Citizen Jimmy now on DVD
from Image Entertainment. Running 52
minutes, the concert is good and smart, but his delivery is a problem, not
taking best advantage through phrasing and timing to deliver them with the best
impact.
Sure, I
was amused and he is bold at times, but to see this not work because he seems
inexperienced is a shame and to date, I have seen nothing like this happen for
a stand-up comedy program on DVD.
Usually, it is a success, mild entertainment or failure for these
releases, but this could have hit the mark and sadly misses. Hope he gets better by next time, because he
could potential breakout as the next big comedy star.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image for the concert is taped in what looks
like High Definition and is a little softer than one would like, though the
color is good. As for the sound, the
Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 are about on par, with the 2.0 sounding a little
better and 5.1 spreading out the limited audio of Dore telling jokes and the
audience occurrently responding. There
are no extras.
