Genius
continues to roll out the Sesame Street product with the amusing Count On Sports, where Ernie drives
Bert crazy again, this time instantly launching his own 24-hour sports cable
network in their bedroom! Elmo shows up
as a correspondent to drive everyone nuts and each segment gets loonier and
loonier, but unless you like sports or get the joke, this wears thin quickly,
even for Muppets.
However,
the one thing I can say is that the new makers are doing a fine job of
continuing the humor and fun that made the show an instant classic to begin
with. I bought the interaction between
the characters and keeping Bert easily annoyed is key, though the makers have
come up with a new angle in which he has longer takes of being shocked. It also shows in general how well these
characters endure.
The 1.33
X 1 image is a recent NTSC analog taping and looks good for that, though it
makes me curious what style changes will occur when they go HD for good. Color is consistent and all is pleasantly
watchable. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
is also a recent recording and sounds just fine. Extras include previews for three other DVDs
in the series, Elmo training with the famous football team in Elmo & The Jets and three
Claymation adventures of Ernie & Bert.
